Proposal to change BPL norms

The poverty line defines a threshold income. Households earning below this threshold are considered poor. Different countries have different methods of defining the threshold income depending on local socio-economic needs. The present criteria are based on a survey conducted in 2002. Going into a survey due for a decade, India's central government is undecided on criteria to identify families below poverty line. Internationally, an income of less than $1.25 per day per head of purchasing power parity is defined as extreme poverty. By this estimate, about 21.92% percent of Indians are extremely poor. Income-based poverty lines consider the bare minimum income to provide basic food requirements; it does not account for other essentials such as health care and education. 67 years of independence, why people still vote on caste in india..

Being raised in a cosmopolitan family where every other person was married into a different caste I never had a real exposure to the caste system in india.Though I vaguely remember that when I was little my grandmother used to tell me stories about ambedkar, she was an iyengar bhramin of kerela and my grand dad was from U.P. She used to tell me how bad she felt when as a child she saw, people who brought the harvest from their farm were supposed to beat drums when they came to their village, and all the village people were supposed to close doors and they were not even allowed to see their shadows. She said she never understood as to how the people who were feeding them were treated so badly. Never had a real idea of cast system ,untill I was rejected from the college of my dreams for a few marks, while a friend who got lesser marks was admitted. I felt very bad that day,I never knew that she even belonged to a particular caste till that day,she had everything I had and still, she was c...

I was a part of this movement since 16th Aug 2011,I have volunteered for the party in mira  Bhaynder,Allahabad and Mumbai, delhi(during events) I had my serious doubts when this movement took a turn of a political party,I was right down the stage and a lot of the volunteers, who by now have left the party were startled, when suddenly it was announced that we are ending the movement and starting the party.the so called people who talked about swaraj did not ask any of us then.Later I came to know that ,the Anshan was the last act of the whole movement drama, which was done to launch the mega party. I wrote arvindji a big letter, open letter to which he never replied. The letter is stil...
