The Indian Revolution :Old Book new Cover

“A Country cannot subsist well without liberty, nor liberty without virtue.”-Rousseau

We were all feeling hopeless against this system, took corruption ,organized crime and scams as a part of the system. But since last year we became dreamers again, an old man made us believe that a ray of hope was still alive within each of us. we started to believe that maybe if we speakup we will bring about the change we desired. We saw for the first time in our lives that good people were around us,we started to notice the misery of countrymen to which we had become immune.
But as days turned into weeks and weeks into months without any actual result in the form of action taken by the government, many young people started to loose heart. Feeling that maybe it was not their right to dream ,or dreams don’t really come true.I too had similar feelings and started to inquire a lot, asking the people who had taken up many andolan in their lives as to why we don’t see anything positive coming out.One such veteran activist told me that though he would guide me, but I will have to figure it out on my own.He also said that its nothing new that is happening here,it has already happened around the world in the past.
With that guidance he told me to read history of the revolutions around the world.I stared by reading about Che, my childhood hero. As I read more and more about these revolutions, I came to know its all the same. And there is no quick fix ,it takes years for a revolution to take shape and  make the desirable changes  in the system. I read how Poverty, organized crime, corruption were the root causes of all these revolutions, and how in case of Russian and French revolution  people were angry because a foreigner was their queen.these women were never loyal to their subjects, and failed to see their plight. They had very little to do with their new subjects who were just source of revenue for these women. The similarity seemed to be uncanny to me.And how the nobel who were enjoying the cream of the society detested any tax imposed on them, while the poor peasants  died of hunger. The famous ball room parties reminded me of the recent RTI that has uncovered that  our very own agriculture ministery spends around five thousand rupees daily as expenditure for tea when the farmers in vidharba are dying for a loan of fifteen hundred rupees. How every twelve minute a farmer tries to commit suicide in my country due to the fear of loan shark. But in our case too neither the foreign queen nor the corrupt nobles can see this.
I read how organised  prostitution was one of the main causes for the rebellion in cuba.Reminds me of how to our horror we had uncovered  the truth of human trafficking in our city. The girls were brought from Nepal ,Bangladesh and Jharkhand most of them as young as thirteen and sold in the big cities. Police never comes to help them even after knowing about the locations of the places where they are detained. The dance bars where they are often sold are all owned by people who are well connected politically across the party line,in  case they are not active politicians. But before this movement we were all immune to things like this.
There is a limit to how much the public can tolerate. If you outrage the modesty of our daughters just because we gave you power we are not going to take it.Media also has a big role to play in this contion.but again like the last century corrupt people have all the money, which they acquire by selling us sfuff, and that same money goes in the pockets of politicians to make policies which are favorable to the MNCs.the very same people own the media houses, how can we expect them to show things that will ultimately harm their very existence. Big government adds are given in the news papers, which generates revenue for the print media, asking them to honestly report about the situation is like asking them to commit suicide. Same way we are asking the politicians to pass the janlokpal bill. Anna Hazre tells them (politicians)that he has made the gallows for them and now they should hang themselves.
I know what is the truth and somehow feel most of the people know the truth, this battle is going to be long and even turn deadly for us, but when the history is written I want to be on the right side. Whatever little History that I have read, tells me that things will become very bad this time. It will be the darkest part of the night before the dawn breaks out. With a diabetic man sitting on fast and his die heart supporters by his side. Its not just his country its mine too, and I believe if he is ready to die for it he will not be the only one.I will not sitting watching the whole thing unfold in front of a television set,I will be there at jantar mantar. Its up to the people who read this as to what they will prefer, to be mute spectators or a part of the History.
