A poor man who moved mountains to save his daughter
“Courage isn't having the strength to go on - it is going on when you don't have strength.”
― Napoleon Bonaparte
I met suresh Kesarwani when we were distributing pamphlets against the financial bungling going on in the regional cancer center at A
llahabad. He along with his ten year old daughter and a social worker was going to meet the District Magistrate to seek some sort of support for his daughter who was a blood cancer patient.Suresh is a gas delivery hawker,he feels shy ,barely speaks to us the social worker who is a housewife told us how they were running from pillar to post to get some financial aid so that they could save the life of that little girl.
As days passed and we frequently visited government offices for help I saw this man's courage, his pain and his love for his little daughter. He sold everything he had to get his daughter treated, knocked every door.He never cared if he will get any help,he just kept trying.
We were presently surprised to see his devotion for his daughter,a man who barely earned Rs 2000 month was spending all his earnings and savings to save the life of his little girl.Doctors had told him that there was a very little chance of his daughter's survival still he is trying to do everything he can. Not just us,all the civil authorities were empathetic towards him, they wanted to help his daughter in every possible way,but we all know its a race against time.
Its very encouraging to know in a country where lacs of girls are killed every year for female infanticide, dowry and honor killings. There are some people who are willing to move mountains to save their daughters.
